Thorverton C of E
Thank you for your interest in Thorverton CE Primary School. Please explore the pages on this website to find out more about our friendly, welcoming school situated in a lovely village in the heart of Devon.
Founded in 1842 as a Church of England School, our principles are underpinned by Christian values which thread through the life of the school and community. As part of the Exe Valley Federation we work closely with other local schools to ensure the best learning opportunities for all our children; learning together whenever possible.
Each child is important at Thorverton and we aim to give them the broadest experience possible to ensure high academic standards, whilst developing confidence, self-esteem and a curiosity for learning, which will serve all the children well as they travel through life. We provide a rich and stimulating educational environment within which each child is encouraged and enabled to become an active learner; through our growth mind set approach, we encourage and expect independence and perseverance. Children demonstrate the highest principles of behaviour and respect for their whole community and each member within. We involve our children in the local community at every opportunity as we are fully committed to the important relationship we have with the village community in Thorverton.
Please spend time looking at the pages to get a more detailed picture of our wonderful school, which each of us are proud to be a part of!
Unfortunately there has been a second confirmed case of Covid-19 at Thorverton School this week. The class that has been affected are self-isolating and the rest of the school was told immediately and advised to increase hygiene practices. Although this is the second time we have had a confirmed case at the school, the timing and circumstances suggest they are not connected.
The school is in regular contact with Public Health England and is following their advice. Our thoughts are with the children who were looking forward to the run up to Christmas but we are pleased that they will be back for the last 4 days of term.
