Safeguarding

Whimple Primary School is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all our pupils in school. Our safeguarding officers are Mrs Shilston, Miss Clarke and Miss NortonWe endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice. 

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as:
  • protecting children from maltreatment;
  • preventing impairment of children's health or development;
  • ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

If you think a child is at risk of significant harm or want to talk about your concerns about a child or family, you can contact us on 0345 155 1071. Calls are confidential and you can choose to remain anonymous. Our lines are open Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4pm.

If you need help outside of these hours or at weekends or bank holidays, please call our Emergency Duty Service on 0345 6000 388.

If you have concerns that a child or young person is at immediate risk of harm, you should contact the Police on 999.
